A group of ex-pats showed their loyalty to Her Majesty from the far-flung reaches of her breakaway colonies, specifically Jurupa in Southern California. The occasion was a High Tea to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. 

OB Reg Jones (‘46-51) is pictured snapping a fine Royal Air Force salute as he undertook his two years (1955-57) National Service with the 280th Signals Unit serving in RAF station Akrotiri, Cape Gata, Cyprus. During this time he recalls being shot at as he travelled in convoy from Nicosia to Limassol via the Troodos Mountains by Eoka terrorists who wanted Cyprus for the Greeks, and battling the Egyptians during the Suez Canal Crisis of 1956.  

Reg is married to Elaine Parker of Irby, Wirral and the West Kirby CGS (pictured first on the left). They met in 1950 and married in 1958. They travelled the world together having a wonderful, hard working life, but still making time to enjoy several cruises each year.
