At the first official OB event since the pandemic, the OB Council were pleased to invite those local to Liverpool to meet for a few drinks at Love Lane Brewery. OBs came from Liverpool City Centre, Wirral and Chester to join each other and catch up, while enjoying Love Lane’s own brewed beers and gins. A wide range of alumni ages were also represented, from both new career starters, to those several years retired.
OBS Council members, Will Roberts, Jennifer Taylor and incoming Treasurer Rob Young were in attendance, and it was also good to see several current and former Birkenhead School staff members present, including Head of Sixth Form, Louise Smeaton, former Deputy Head, Mike Hayward, former History teacher, Jim McGrath, as well as Headmaster Paul Vicars and Alumni Coordinator Carol Keegan, among others.
The brewery is owned by OB Stephen Crawley, and the staff at Love Lane Brewery were particularly welcoming to our party and looked after us with special attention, even while hosting another event, plus their regulars. Love Lane Brewery were also the providers of an on-site bar for the Sports Players’ Dinner at School in April.
We look forward to our next gathering and seeing even more faces, old and new, in attendance.
