This rooftop observatory was, we believe, originally built to look out to the River Mersey and monitor the movements of shipping.

We think it’s time to repurpose to look up rather than out! 🔭✨

Let's transform this wonderful space into a new home for astronomy at Birkenhead School — somewhere pupils can explore the night sky, ask big questions and perhaps discover a lifelong passion for the stars.

And this is where we need some help!

We’re looking for Birkonians, parents, alumni and friends who could help with:

🔭 telescopes and equipment
💡 ideas, expertise or technology
🛠️ practical help
💷 sponsorship or funding

You don’t need to be an astronomer — just someone who likes the idea of giving curious young minds somewhere extraordinary to explore the universe.

If you could help, or know someone who might, drop me a line.

Overdale has been watching the world go by for long enough.
It’s time to turn the telescopes towards the stars. 🚀✨
