OB Tom Cross became a Kings Counsel (KC) on 24th March at a ceremony in Westminster Great Hall and received his Letters Patent from the Lord Chancellor. Tom later took his seat as a KC at an ancient ceremony at the Royal Courts Of Justice when he paid his respects to the Lady Chief Justice (The Rt Hon Baroness Carr of Walton on the Hill - Dame Sue Carr) in her capacity as Head of the Judiciary of England and Wales and President of the Courts of England and Wales. Dame Sue is the first woman to hold this office since the inception of the role in the 13th century .
Tom practices public law in the administrative courts. His practice is varied and includes acting for and against the Government, he was recently involved with challenging the delay in bringing into force the Freedom Of Speech Act. Tom will be in the news again shortly as he prepares to challenge the Government’s VAT on private school fees focused on the adverse impact caused to SEND students and families.
Tom is shown in this photograph with his father OB Andy Cross who was Chair of Governors until the end of last year, his brother OB Adam Cross who was recently appointed Deputy Head of Berkhamsted School, mum Brenda and sister Nicky (an actress who has taught during the pandemic at the school and helped in drama productions)
We are delighted to hear of this progress.
